Self-Portraits
I return to the body as a place of passage. A body that inhabits, crosses, reflects, disappears, and reappears; never entirely inside, never entirely outside.
These self-portraits emerge from a search for a place in which to exist. They contain the tension between exposure and intimacy, between the desire to belong and the desire to dissolve. The body becomes both refuge and threshold—a fragile territory carried from one place to another.
Perhaps self-portraiture, for me, is less about looking at myself than about searching for the place where I might exist. A window, a reflection, the surface of the sea: different thresholds through which the self becomes uncertain, fragmented, or momentarily free.
The body is not the subject of these images, but the place from which they begin.
