Adobe is political
Adobe is Political tells the story of Miguel Mendias, a queer, trans, Chicano artist and resident of he town of Marfa Texas, USA. His struggle to reclaim his family's old house and his efforts to rebuild it with his own hands using the ancestral local technique of adobe, as the only affordable alternative, but also as a protest against the construction restriction that seems to agree directly with the gentrification of Marfa.
2024 - 2025 - Film photography, video and instalation.
Ironically, the social and economic changes that have taken place in Marfa over the last century have turned it into an art epicenter that generates jobs but also segregates in commercial attempts to stylize the city.
