Self-portraits
I return to the body as a place of passage. A body that inhabits, crosses, reflects, disappears and reappears; never entirely inside, never entirely outside.
These self-portraits emerge from a search for a place to exist. They hold the tension between exposure and intimacy, between the desire to belong and the desire to dissolve. The body becomes both shelter and threshold — a fragile territory carried from one place to another.
Perhaps self-portraiture, for me, is less about looking at myself than about looking for where I might exist. A window, a reflection, the surface of the sea: different thresholds through which the self becomes uncertain, fragmented, or momentarily free.
The body is not the subject of these images, but the place from which they begin.
